Starting my fitness journey with my teen daughter

Let me ask you this? How do you motivate a teenager to exercise? Eat less junk food? Well first I needed to get her out of the room. Yes the dreaded room, that let’s face it when I was growing up I lived in it myself. I never realized though how much I actually got out when I was younger and wasn’t as much of a couch potato as she (and likely most kids) are today.

We needed to do something different. What’s the old saying? If you try the same solution to the same problem you should not expect different results. I went to the local chain gyms and even a nice fancy gym. Yes they were nice so I’m certainly not bashing them. I wasn’t too sure what program I was looking for. I needed something that would motivate her, push her, and inspire her . . . well at least the first two.

I also needed to find something that we could do together. After all I never ask my kids to do anything that I’m not willing to do myself. The whole idea of put up or shut up right? I at least knew that whatever program we got into it was something that we could do together. But the only thing I was going to get from those typical gyms is what getting on a treadmill and using weights.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve used them in the past so I know it works, but what do you do for a teen who doesn’t want to push herself yet? LOL I could just see her on the treadmill just rolling her eyes and being like ugh this is boring.

Until we . . . well I . . . finally found . . .
